Nora Aunor in "Manghuhula" to start shooting, says Mari Cusi.

Ms. Mari Cusi, a number one Noranian, a mover  and organizer of and in several Nora Aunor fans club, and a personal friend to Philippines National Artist for Broadcast and Film Nora Aunor have confirmed that Bong Lozano's "Manghuhula" screenplay will start shooting immediately after Nora's angioplasty.

"Sipag talaga ni Ate GUY" says Marie Cusi on her facebook post immediately after the passing of Ms. Nora Aunor on April 16, 2025. "Last April 8, twag sya" confirming that before Nora Aunor went into surgery for Angioplasty, she was asking "sis Marie, pls ask direk Bong when na shoot of Manghuhula this April?" to which Marie replied "Ate Guy, I can ask pero focus ka muna sa Angioplasty mo". Ms. Cusi is obviously more concerned with Nora's well-being rather than the shooting of a new film.

Little did Marie Cusi know that it would be their last conversation. She also confirms Nora Aunor's dedication to her craft and how excited she was to start shooting for "Manghuhula" as Ms. Aunor replied back to Ms Cusi saying "Mabilis lang yan, after surgery shoot na ako".

The journey of "Manghuhula" before Nora Aunor said "YES" to film it.

Francis Tanseco, who is a friend of Bong Lozano, has advocated for this story to be made into a film starring Nora Aunor for almost ten years. Mr. Tanseco have created a facebook page for awareness and to campaign to get Nora Aunor agree to make this movie. He has a vision that this film will be perfect for Nora Aunor's famous "mata-mata acting" (eye acting).

After a meeting with Bong Lozano in the summer of 2015, Mr. Tanseco created the facebook page "Manghuhula" (The Oracle) several days before Ms. Nora Aunor's birthday and on May 07, 2015, the facebook page was created, a dream was born, a campaign began and an advocacy commenced.

In the facebook page of "MAnghuhula - Oracle", a brief description of the page stated the following. "MANGHUHULA - The Oracle, an indie film written and to be directed by Bong Lozano and Francis Tanseco. Page created by Francis Tanseco".

Story of "Manghuhula"

"Manghuhula" is a story of an Oracle in Quiapo whose gift for accurate fortune telling made her popular to her clients for being able to predict their fortune with precision other than that of her own.

In an interview with John Rendez of Julius Babao on Julius Babao UNPLUGGED YouTube channel titled "EXCLUSIVE! JOHN RENDEZ : "MY LIFE WITH NORA AUNOR" (click here for the John Rendez interviewposted on May 21, 2025 as a tribute to Ms. Nora Aunor's 72nd birth anniversary, Ms Marie Cusi was also interviewed. 

Starting time stamp 13:33 in that interview of Mr. Rendez, Marie was featured with her Nora Aunor memorabilia, in the interview - she further confirms that Nora Aunor was all set and all ready to shoot the film.

“Pati yong 'Manghuhula', excited sya dun kasi” said Ms. Cusi. “"kasi first role nya yon at saka hindi sya mahihirapan kasi ang manghuhula naman ng Quiapo nakaupo lang di ba?" she further stated.

"at lalakad lakad lang ng kaunti" Marie Cusi continued "so physically kaya nya tas kaya sya nagpapagaling at kaya sya nagpa confine". These were statement of Marie Cusi who believes that Ms. Nora Aunor is dedicated to get her health back in order to shoot this project which she was very excited about.

"di bale sister marie magagawa ko lahat yan kaya nga ako nagpa confine, nag pa operation, para pagbalik ko malakas na malakas na ako" Cusi said with a sad voice in the interview.

Marie Cusi was given assurance by Nora Aunor not to worry, she even stated in the interview with Julius Babao that "pero si Ate Guy very confident, sabi nya ehhemm anu lang yon, 3 to 4 hours lang ang operation eh, after three days ready na ako. Schedule mo na ang manghuhula mag su-shoot na sya" she ended.

The Manghuhula creative team initial meeting.

In early February 2025, a formal meeting commenced between Bong Lozano, Francis Tanseco and Marie Cusi (representing Ms Nora Aunor).

The meeting was about the creation of a production and creative team to which all three will play a big role in the filming of "Manghuhula".

After this meeting, the next succeeding meetings were just formalities and Ms. Aunor has agreed to do the movie.

Mona Lisa looks for Nora Aunor in "Manghuhula".

Marie Cusi once asked during the period that the story was being pitched to Nora Aunor, "what will Nora Aunor look like in this film as manghuhula" to which Francis Tanseco stated that Nora Aunor as "Manghuhula" will be peg as the painting Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci.

Marie Cusi will play a big role in the film.

Ms Marie Cusi has agreed to be in the creative and production team and also to act alongside Nora Aunor in the film.

John Rendez is to be casted in the movie too alongside Nora Aunor and other cast members.

"Manghuhula sa Quiapo".

During the pitching of the screenplay, it was suggested by Francis Tanseco that the movie title would be "Manghuhula sa Quiapo" to which Marie Cusi confirmed that Ms. Nora Aunor like the title "Manghuhula sa Quiapo" rather than the original title "Manghuhula".

Marie Cusi has acted in several Nora Aunor indie films, she also has helped and assisted Nora Aunor in many of her social functions and became a trusted friend to Ms. Aunor. In fact, Ms Aunor once asked Marie Cusi if she would like to be her manager in which Marie humbly declined due to her other obligations and responsibilities in the past.

It is unfortunate that after almost ten years of pitching and finally Ms Aunor was gonna shoot the movie only for the unexpected to happen.
