Is it Pitoy Moreno on Cocoy Laurel's "Floral Dress" in "Movie Queen" painting?

 Help me find the answer my dear reader. You are my one very important reader and  you know who you are.


A garment that features a design or pattern of flowers and plants is called "Floral Dress". This style is a signature of Pitoy Moreno's design. It is what he is known for. 

This design gives a sense of freshness, feminine and a romantic feel. It is popular among designers who love nature. Their respect for God's creation is reflected in their design which caters to various occasions and seasons.

Pitoy Moreno's floral design is indeed timeless. It is staple in his fashion shows overcoming the changes and trends over time.

If Vivaldi have a composition called "Four Seasons", Pitoy Moreno's designs are definitely a "Star for All Season" - a title most commonly used to describe the thespian Vilma Santos. Indeed, Pitoy Moreno's designs gives us a sense of spring and summer. Almost as if we can smeel the scent and freshness of the flowers on the dresses which compliment femininity.

Pitoy Moreno's floral designs are intricate which can be portrayed in sundresses and suitable for various events. Flowers are elegant in evening gowns.

Nora Aunor's gown in the Cocoy Laurel painting the "Movie Queen" gives us a reminder of a Pitoy Moreno design. It is lush like the personality of Pitoy. It is intricate like the masterpieces of Moreno. They are a romantic aesthetic that gives us a timeless element. Is the dress designed by Pitoy Moreno? That I do not know.

What is the statement that painter Cocoy Laurel is trying to portray when he created that painting of Nora Aunor? He portrayed Aunor as a delicate as flower, as subtle as the smile, an understated painting indeed.



The vivid colors and large enough floral pattern in Nora's gown is a bod statement drawing attention to the design itself. It is not abstract but offers a modern and artistic interpretation.

It does look like very much a Pitoy Moreno, you see Mr. Moreno's floral dresses almost always incorporates three-dimensional elements which adds sexiness, sensualities, texture and depth to the dress which in turn compliments the woman wearing them.


Who knows, it may not be by Pitoy Moreno however the design of the dress definitely reminds me of Pitoy Moreno in which this blog is dedicated to in celebration of his greatness.

Nora Aunor in "Manghuhula" to start shooting, says Mari Cusi.

Ms. Marie Cusi and "Manghuhula" screenplay. Ms. Mari Cusi, a number one Noranian, a mover  and organizer of and in several Nora Aunor fans club, and a personal friend to Philippines National Artist for Broadcast and Film Nora Aunor have confirmed that Bong Lozano's "Manghuhula" screenplay will start shooting immediately after Nora's angioplasty. "Sipag talaga ni Ate GUY" says Marie Cusi on her facebook post immediately after the passing of Ms. Nora Aunor on April 16, 2025. "Last April 8, twag sya" confirming that before Nora Aunor went into surgery for Angioplasty, she was asking "sis Marie, pls ask direk Bong when na shoot of Manghuhula this April?" to which Marie replied "Ate Guy, I can ask pero focus ka muna sa Angioplasty mo".  The puzzle is coming together slowly but surely. This info solves the question of a Cocoy Laurel painting of Nora Aunor. This blog is dedicated to a great Filipino painter Cocoy Laurel and our beautiful and favorite muse Ms. Nora Aunor.
