Maraming salamat po mam Victoria Donato.

The photo is an old article that looks like it is from page 40 of Super-Duper MOVIE, I am not sure if this is a magazine but it does look like one.

Let me do my best to transcribe it here for you.

Title of Article is OIL PORTRAIT HANDOG KAY NORA NI VICTOR LAUREL na isinulat ni LITA SANTOS.

This must have been published in 1970 because the movie "Lollipops and Roses"  was shown to cinemas on 1971.

And here is the body of the article below.

The next statement comes with a photo wherein Nora is standing in front of a big package while Cocoy Laurel is on his kneews trying to open it. Let us continue the article below.

The next photo with a statement shows Cocoy Laurel is standing up and the package is half open with Nora standing next to it holding it on one side as if trying to help Cocoy. And the captions goes...

"Uppsss!

Next photo shows Nora Aunor holding the photo and admiring it while Cocoy Laurel is holding it too as if assisting Nora. The captions reads...

"Iniabot ni Cocoy ang larawan. Gustong mapaiyak ni Guy sa katuwaan. Masaya namang nakamasid ang mga nakapaligid."

Next photo looks like Cocoy is about to kiss Nora while she is holding the painting and Cocoy is behind her helping hold the painting on standing position ready for the camera. Captions reads.

"Hinalikan ni Victor si Nora. Hiyang-hiya naman siyempre ang ating bida."

Next photo shows Cocoy Laurel holding his painting while Nora is in front of him holding part of it and they are locked eye to eye. Caption reads.

"Nagustuhan mo ba" "Syempre, ang ganda-ganda. Thank you, ha?" Uy, dinig na dinig namin yan"

Next photo shows both Nora and Cocoy standing side by side withthe painting in front of them. Caption reads.

"Kamukhang-kamukha k, ano?"

Then next photo shows Cocoy beside Nora standing together while Nora is looking at the painting in front of her. Captions reads.

And the last photo in the article with Nora standing next to her portrait. It looks like to me based on Nora Aunor height with the oil painting next to her that this portrait is at least 3 feet (height) by 2 feet (width) at least. Caption reads.

Well, your guess is as good as mine."

End of the article.

The painting looks like the same portrait of Nora Aunor portrayed in Cocoy and Nora's movie together titled "Lollipops and Roses" which I believe was shown to the movie public in 1971.

If the film is indeed shown in 1971 then this oil portrait must have been made in 1970.

Where was this portrait made? The article says that it is a present of Cocoy Laurel to Nora Aunor on his arrival from Spain, does this mean that Cocoy painted this in Spain? In Madrid?

So many questions un-answered. However I am truly grateful to Victoria Donato for reaching out to me and giving me the photo and some info. She has more amazing info that many admirer of Cocoy Laurel's art will be surprised. As in sobra kayo masu-surpresa sa info ni Mam Victoria as I got so excited on what she message me.

Sir Julius Babao, kung sakaling mabasa mo ito, please naman help me with this quest of an Art Hunt of Cocoy Laurel painting of Nora Aunor.

Abangan sa susunod na kabanata.

Please do listen and watch the video below of a song I wrote titled "Nora Aunor" for additional senti-senti moment. Let us all celebrate the greatness of both Cocoy Laurel and Nora Aunor. Help me pray that Cocoy Laurel may be considered to be awarded the National Artist Award.
