Genesis of "Movie Queen" painting by Cocoy Laurel.

Based on information I got from some Nora Aunor fans who messaged me and some posted about it in social media, it appears that the painting by Cocoy Laurel of Nora Aunor with a crown and is holding a scepter which I titled "Movie Queen" painting is from an event back in the 70's.

Salamat kay Mari Cusi for confirming that it is by Cocoy Laurel. There are other sources who confirmed it too. Please be informed that this is not an official confirmation. However, since many people in the know have confirmed it already then it is safe to call this a Cocoy Laurel masterpiece.

The painting is most likely based from the coronation night that took place in 1971 since Cocoy Laurel and Nora Aunor's movie was shown to the public in 1971 which was a box office hit.

The reason for Nora Aunor's coronation is because her movie with Cocoy Laurel 'Lollipops and Roses" were a box office hit. 

It is unclear weather both Nora and Cocoy were crown King and Queen of Philippine Movies for that year in 1971. What is clear is that Nora Aunor was crowned as Queen of Philippine Movies for that year as a good result of the film from the viewing public.

I suspect that Cocoy might have painted this in 1971 and finished it on the same year or in 1972.

This painting is MISSING.

It must be noted that Cocoy Laurel also painted another portrait of Nora Aunor using oil on canvas as his medium which I also blogged as Cocoy Laurel painting article found today c/o Isidra Reyes.

As further information, Nora Aunor's show "Superstar" also conducted an On the spot painting contest on Nora Aunor "SUPERSTAR" show during the 70's. July 11, 2025 which means that there are more paintings with Nora Aunor as muse is out there to be discovered.

Because of the above information I have declared that Nora Aunor - The Most Painted Muse all over the world. July 11, 2025

Nora Aunor in "Manghuhula" to start shooting, says Mari Cusi.

Ms. Marie Cusi and "Manghuhula" screenplay. Ms. Mari Cusi, a number one Noranian, a mover  and organizer of and in several Nora Aunor fans club, and a personal friend to Philippines National Artist for Broadcast and Film Nora Aunor have confirmed that Bong Lozano's "Manghuhula" screenplay will start shooting immediately after Nora's angioplasty.  The puzzle is coming together slowly but surely. This info solves the question of a Cocoy Laurel painting of Nora Aunor. This blog is dedicated to a great Filipino painter Cocoy Laurel and our beautiful and favorite muse Ms. Nora Aunor.
