St. Vincent de Paul - A new song 2025 by Francis Tanseco.
In 1992, apart from being busy preparing for graduation and reviewing for the Philippines Nursing Licensure Exam in Manila, the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul who runs Concordia College in Paco, Manila, in the Philippines tapped me to play in a musical taking the lead role as St. Vincent de Paul.
The musical was written and directed by Fr. James Reuter. A great director and scriptwriter if I may say so. If Fr. Reuter was not a priest, I bet he would have made many great films and classics and perhaps would have become a great Hollywood director.
Photo above is Francis Tanseco as St. Vincent de Paul.
I wonder whatever happened to Fr. Reuters creations coz he created many musical. They should be used now and made into films produced by the Catholic Church.
I also wonder if the Daughters of Charity would ever release on YouTube the musical which I played as St. Vincent de Paul. I wish they would, I pray they would. It is my dream to see this video online.
I am lucky to have been directed and being able to perform in Fr. Reuters musical. It was an honor indeed.
This musical was performed at the PICC, Folk Arts Theatre and in many Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul colleges and universities.
It was a hard work na walang bayad, just honorary like for transportation and food allowances however it was a great experience and my alma matter honored me with a Plague of Appreciation which they presented to me during our class graduation at the PICC.
St. Vincent de Paul being the patron Saint of my school and having have the honor to perform as him in a musical made a great impact to my life. In fact, believe it or not, I feel that he have always been there in my life to protect me.
In honor of this great experience of playing as St. Vincent de Paul and as appreciation of his many great legacy to my Catholic upbringing and influence, and indeed protection - I wrote a lyric for a song, let's call it a poem this time till a melody will be composed to it. I titled this song naturally as "St. Vincent de Paul".
