Nora - THE BEST PUBLIC SERVANT WE NEVER HAD. (Francis Tanseco)

Nora - THE BEST PUBLIC SERVANT WE NEVER HAD. (Francis Tanseco)

For a Noranian like me, I always knew that Nora Aunor is selfless and kind and that is one virtue and perhaps should be the best requirement we would hope for in our public servant. How I wish our politicians are all Nora Aunor.

In our current societal make up, we are overflowing with politicians and a handful of public servants. There is a big difference you know - go figure.

For the mere Nora Aunor observer and especially those who have heard of Nora but does not necessarily pay attention to her human virtues, the amazing anecdote of people, fans and co-actors alike proclaiming to the world after her passing that she put herself last, that she is kind to a fault? her generous personality and her attention given to the lowly of society has proven that indeed she would have been the best public servant we never had and we never elected.

How funny that some people would describe her kindness as being faulty. Since when is being kind a fault? Only public relation mindset does that. Kindness is never faulty.

Our country would have been the best country on Earth if only our corrupt politicians are all Nora's. That is being kind, selfless and generous and by generous does not mean giving ayuda that the money.comes from the public coffers anyway. That is not being generous, that is being evil for you are giving away money that belongs to the people so that you can portray yourself as generous and kind. People are waking up from this illusion.

Two public servant  come to my mind who are selfless and kind like Nora. They are Rodrigo Duterte and Ramon Magsaysay - both elected Presidents and both love by the masses for their selfless and true love for the people. They have served the Filipino people well. In my humble opinion, they are both heroes. They have asked for our VOTES so that they can serve us well and indeed they served us selflessly and very well indeed. I am not merely stating an opinion here for there are facts and statistics that supports it.

We need a hero in our midst, not one hero but many. We need public servant in the like that of Nora Aunor, not one Nora Aunor but many. Do we have hope as a society in the cross road of division if majority of our elected officials are mere politicians? How many of them can even be close to a likeness of a public servant?

Well I guess the answer is in the millions of people admiring Nora Aunor for they know how selfless Nora Aunor is or was and with that knowing perhaps they can start emulating Nora Aunor and start small. Start in your family, start in your small inclusive group. Start in your churches and organization and in your community. Imagine this small ripple of kindness multiplying a million times. Start now and start small and be like Nora Aunor and if you don't like Nora Aunor just be kind.

Nora - THE BEST PUBLIC SERVANT WE NEVER HAD. (Francis Tanseco)

We have admired Nora Aunor for her beauty, for her singing,  for her acting, her accolades, her stardom, her shining moments, the glitter, the pageantry but we should start admiring her for what matters the most and that is Nora Aunor is a personification of my "brothers keepers" as describe in the Holy Book, in Philosophy and in the writing of the wise. We should forget the illusion of the actress in her but look deeper into the virtues that made Nora Aunor so loved - her kindness.

Nora is gone, what remains are her movies, songs and accolades that probes how great she was but at her wake what I hear the most from peoples memories and anecdotes are not much of those superficial accomplishment but her generosity,  her selflessness, her kindness. Am I witnessing the making of a saint here? I don't want to promote her as such, let's just focus on her humanity and humility. And be kind.

Whereas she had a chance to enrich herself from her hard work but she never did. Meanwhile, a lot of our politicians take every opportunity to enrich themselves and not by hard work but by becoming first a politicians and secondly a traditional politicians then thirdly by becoming a seasoned politicians.and finally by becoming a dynasty of politicians.

Now that Nora Aunor is gone and can see through all the evil of politicians I can hear her shouting loud and clear her famous line "hayup,  Hayup, HAYUP, HAYUPPPPP".

Is it really that difficult to be kind like Nora Aunor? What do you think?
